The School of Games and Creative Technology is a place for emerging and experimental practice and research and is unique in its transdisciplinary research environment that spans both creative and technological innovation.

Research at GCT brings together technologists, creative practitioners and researchers across discipline areas to develop truly innovative work, sharing new knowledge and expertise and synthesising research with pioneering advances in digital computing, information technologies and creative practice.

Games and Creative Technology research falls into 3 clusters;

  • Creative Applications of Artificial Intelligence
  • Emerging Technologies and Creative Practice
  • Games Research

 Knowledge exchange and public engagement are central to our work, and we are always looking to develop new collaborative partnerships with individuals and organisations. We are particularly keen to work on projects that through games and creative technologies use creativity to drive change, overcome challenges and improve the lives of others.

The School of Games and Creative Technology boasts excellent facilities including a virtual production studio and a motion capture studio which can both be accessed by organisations and industry through our knowledge exchange programme.

Research at GCT also boasts a vibrant doctoral community, with doctoral candidates working across immersive film-making, XR performance and creative AI.
