UCASU: who we are

With the help of the UCA Students’ Union (UCASU), you’ll have a world-class student experience, develop new skills, meet new people and have a lot of fun during your time at UCA.

UCASU is here to represent, support and provides opportunities for every student at UCA. The Union independent, but works closely with the university to promote student interests. Every UCA student is automatically a member of the Students’ Union, which means you can benefit from everything it offers from the moment you enrol.

Here's a brief taster of what to expect.

What we do

What we

The Students' Union offers a range of services, from the fun and friendly to the confidential and serious. These include:

Each year the Students' Union organises your programme of Freshers events. These range from social meet-and-greets to nights out and the traditional Freshers' Fair with its fun, freebies and social opportunities.

As well as Freshers' activities, UCASU organises a range of other events and nights out, from Lunar New Year celebrations to regular parties in our on-campus venues.

The Union offers a range of information, advice and guidance. If things aren’t going as you expected, the Union is available to support you and get you back on track. You’ll always get a warm welcome at the Union, and they will always try to help with whatever is on your mind.

The Union runs year-round campaigns, with current ones including Action for Black Students and Culture Matters. You can find out more about how to get involved on the UCASU website.

Are you an international student new to the UK? Have a housing issue you need to resolve? Or perhaps you want to learn about how to be a better ally? UCASU has a range of resources to help.

A wide range of clubs & societies operates at our largest campus, UCA Farnham, from sports and cosplay to K-Pop dance and Disney Appreciation. There's bound to be something for you, so be sure to check out what's available at Freshers' Week.

All our campuses run Communities - continuing or one-off activities, from art therapy and meetups for disabled students to performing arts and LGBTQ+ groups. These are great ways of making friends and learning new things. You can even start your own events if you want to get more involved.

The Students' Union holds annual elections for two presidents - one for our Kent campuses, and one for our Surrey campuses - together with course reps and councillors. There's also an all-student meeting (AGM) each year, where you can make sure your voice is heard.
