UCA are hosting a series of Creative Masterclasses which will enable you to come and try a range of creative activities, develop your skills and portfolio, and gain an insight into studying a creative subject at degree level. 

Priority for places will be given to students living in HEON target postcode areas. You can check your eligibility here

These workshops are open to students in Years 9-13.

Saturday 26 January 2019 - Acting masterclass:

In this masterclass you’ll learn the essential theatrical/drama skills required of the modern performer!  You’ll be able to explore the essential acting techniques/skills needed to both excite and fully engage an audience.  You’ll take part in a wide range of activities using skills with your voice and body imaginatively, to create a believable 'character' for the stage!  In addition, you will explore all the fun and imaginative possibilities of improvisation, when on stage with other performers - you'll never be lost for words ever again! Finally, you will also learn how to devise an exciting and creative piece of theatre/drama from a stimulus, incorporating all the acting skills you have learned within the workshop!

Saturday 9 February 2019 - Heat press and Screenprinting masterclass:

Entitled "Hot Off the Press", in this masterclass you will learn how to use heat transfer paints to create expressive marks onto fabric. These will be layered with cut shapes from sublimation paper. Finally, simple images will be screen printed on top of this in a darker ink - the resulting fabric can be used for a neck warmer/snood and will give you the chance to combine techniques to give exciting results.

Previous Masterclasses

In our April 2018 workshop we explored different traditional printmaking techniques, creating our own lino cut prints and monoprints. Everyone designed their own canvas tote bag to take home.
