All managers, whether Academic or professional support have health and safety responsibilities at UCA. The University's health, safety and wellbeing policy provides an overview of responsibilities. Some key documents for managers are provided here.
Are you a manager with a new member of staff?
As part of the induction process, you should complete a H&S Induction for all new staff members of your team. You should cover everything from fire exits to first aid, hazards in the workplace to useful contacts.
All new staff members should also complete the online Health and Safety Induction which can be accessed via myUCA. Please contact Learning and Development for the log in details.
The University is required to have a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policy which sets out its statement of intent, organisation and arrangements for health and safety.
The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policy provides comprehensive information which outlines the responsibilities of staff, students and contractors.
The policy is reviewed and updated by the University Health, Safety & Wellbeing Committee which is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor and meets three times per year.
If you are a manager, you should be aware of your health and safety responsibilities outlined in the Policy and you should also ensure that you communicate the Policy to your staff, particularly those holding health and safety responsibilities.
