Visual Music Design Fiction

Trygve Nielsen, Artist in residency at the University for the Creative Arts Farnham, exhibits text and drawings from the project Visual Music Design Fiction.

Through the project, that will also result in a book and several other exhibitions, he proposes possible and impossible ideas for how sound can be turned into vision and vision be turned into sound.

This includes inventions, musical compositions, animation experiments, philosophical concepts and other formats. By these proposals he wishes to suggest other, often utopian, directions of development in the fields of animation, music, and media technology.

Trygve Nielsen is a Norwegian animator, musician, and Ph.D. student. Until recently he devoted his time to animating and composing music for short films and teaching at Volda University College, he is now fully committed to artistic research in visual music film.

He is interested in sound and vision as physical phenomena – as acoustics and optics – and how art can make us understand and explore the connections between them.

The exhibition runs from 12 April to 25 April 2024.
