Visual culture has been and continues to be essential to both her professional and personal motivation. In Sarah's current teaching practice she regularly utilises a vast lexicon of visual references and theoretical concepts related to fine art, design, advertising, film and photography to inspire innovation in the field of fashion.

She is endlessly fascinated by the convergence of fashion and the moving image and how the iconography of film feeds into fashion imagery.

Sarah holds a BA (Hons) in Film Theory and Cultural Studies from Staffordshire University and an MA in Film and Screenwriting for University of the Arts London as well as a PG Cert in Higher Education: Teaching in Art and Design, from The London College of Fashion.

Industry:

Before undertaking a career in higher education Sarah gained valuable experience working in film, advertising and production companies in a diverse range of roles including copywriter, researcher, production assistant and scriptwriter.

Sarah's background in the film/media industry enabled her to develop multiple skills. She has created concepts for music videos, fashion films and commercials whilst working for production companies, has created storyboards for advertising agencies and contributed to the development of feature film ideas whilst working at Film4.

As a writer she has had film scripts successfully commissioned and made, including a short film for Channel 4. These experiences have been invaluable in her teaching practice, as she understands the rigors of working in the creative industries and the importance of strong visual analysis skills.
