Research statement

David’s research focuses on artists’ books, self-publishing and pairing photography and text. His practice, almost wholly on the page, examines how stories are shared and how photography and text might extend the minutia of the everyday.

David has been an active member of UCA Farnham’s ‘bookRoom’ research cluster since its inception in 2005. The cluster examines shifts in the production and distribution of artists’ books with regular symposia and group publications. Recent works and exhibitions have explored encounters with places in and around London, building textual palimpsests that regularly make explicit use of the form of the book.
