Professor Kathleen Rogers is an internationally renowned London-based artist working with digital media, video, sound, photography and installation.
Kathleen Rogers is Professor of Media Arts and Science within the School of Fine Art and Photography.
Kathleen’s academic arts education 1983 - 1985 The Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. Fine Art, Experimental Media (MA) and 1980 - 1983 Wimbledon School of Art, London, Fine Art, BA (hons). Kathleen’s teaching areas include Academic Mentoring and Module Leadership focused on Year 3 Digital Film Screen Arts BA, alongside responsibilities within the Doctoral College for MPhil and PhD Research Supervision. She contributes to Advanced Research Methods training in Research Ethics with expertise in Interdisciplinary Research. Previous roles within UCA include Acting Programme Leader for Television Drama Production, Digital Screen Arts and Research Fellow in Digital Art and Technological Culture. Kathleen was appointed Professor of Media Arts and Science in 2010.
Kathleen's media art practice intersects multiple disciplines, informed by an interest in social and political and cultural issues in the convergent technological landscape. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including representation in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, USA, Japan, Russia and Lithuania, Albania and is held in collections at The National Centre for Contemporary Arts, Kaliningrad, Russia. British Artists Film and Video Study Collection, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Video Positive Archive, FACT, Liverpool. She has interdisciplinary research expertise in Art and Science, BioArt, Fine Art, Experimental Film, Installation, Performance, Video and Interactive Art.
She has given international research presentations and readings at venues that include Wellcome Trust, Documenta X, Hybrid Workspace, Kassel, Germany, National Science Week, Cambridge University, The Lux Centre, Delegation of the Arts Plastiques, Ministry of Culture, Paris, France, ICA, London and ISEA.
Her work features in key book international anthologies, collections and publications.
