Artist in Residence application - 2018

The School of Craft and Design invites our recent graduates to apply for one of a limited number of artist in residence posts, commencing 10 September 2018 and finishing 10 August 2019.

Artists in the following subject areas may apply:

  • Glass
  • Ceramics
  • Metalwork
  • Jewellery
  • Silversmithing
  • Product and furniture design
  • Textiles print / weave
  • Other related areas.


Artists in Residence will have access to the outstanding facilities at our Farnham or Rochester campuses, depending upon subject interest and geographical preference.

Residencies provide a dedicated opportunity for new themes / works to be developed within the lively context of the School of Crafts & Design and should occupy three days a week minimum.

In return you will offer pro-active engagement with the School community, to be agreed in discussion with the Head of School / relevant course leader and equating to approximately half a day a week minimum.

Artists in residence are not employees of the University nor receive a stipend. Overseas applicants are responsible for ensuring they have a valid visa covering the residency period. UCA cannot enter into any dialogue with the UKBA in respect of visa applications. All successful applicants must have public liability insurance.

  • A relevant CV including skill sets
  • Five images of current work (single pdf file 2mb max)
  • A statement of 250 words outlining your Residency interest and what you could offer the School
  • Campus preference
