Terms & conditions

These terms and conditions apply to the 2023/2024 Acceptor and Decliner surveys for the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).

By entering the prize draw, entrants agree to the following:

  1. The prize draw is open between 1 October 2023 and 30 September 2024.
  2. Employees, agencies of the University for the Creative Arts or their family members or anyone else connected with the survey may not enter the draw.
  3. To enter the prize draw, you must complete a survey before the deadline.
  4. The last date for entries is at midnight on 30 September 2024. This deadline will be strictly applied and entries will not be accepted thereafter. It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that the submission is completed by that deadline.
  5. UCA accepts no responsibility for entries not received for whatever reason.
  6. UCA will select winners randomly on 4 October 2024. One £50 Amazon voucher will be awarded to eight different individuals who complete the surveys.
  7. The prizes are as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. The prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
  8. UCA reserves the right not to accept an entry and all decisions on this, and on the subsequent selection of works for exhibition, will be final and not subject to appeal.

Privacy notice

  1. Entrant data will be stored in accordance with current data protection legislation.
  2. Your data will be stored and used in accordance with UCA’s Enquiry privacy notice to administer the competition. 
  3. Your data will be ‘processed/used’ in the following ways:
  4. To identify you, and your entry, when necessary and as described in point 6.
  5. The production of statistics, you will not be identifiable through these statistics, and no decisions will be made about you as an outcome of the statistics, details of parental education will be used in this way.
  6. To analyse the impact of this activity on the promotion of further and higher education.
  7. We consider the processing of your data (and sharing your data with the third parties listed below), in this instance, necessary for the performance of our task carried out in the public interest, i.e. running events and raising awareness of further and higher education options, as a university.
  8. We will keep your data for a period of five years after your last engagement with us, after which it will be deleted or anonymised. For longitudinal tracking (research into access to Higher Education carried out by HEAT), the following timeframes apply:
    • Until the end of the academic year in which you reach the age of 30 (or, if you are a mature student, for 10 years from the point you provide it);
    • If you enter Higher Education within this time, until 15 years after you graduate.
  9. By completing the competition entry form you are providing your explicit consent for your data to be processed by UCA to administer the competition.
  10. We offer the following rights to you in respect of your personal data:

You can request access to, or copies of, the personal data that we hold of you. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us using the contact details given below.

  • If you believe that any information we have about you is incorrect or incomplete, please contact us using any of the contact details given below as soon as possible. We will take steps to seek to correct or update any information if we are satisfied that the information we hold is inaccurate;
  • You can object to how we process your personal data;
  • You can request that your personal data be deleted, where it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it is being processed and provided there is no other lawful basis for which we may continue to process such information;
  • You can withdraw any consent given to processing (this will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal); or
  • You can request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances when required by law.
  • You can request the transfer of your data to another party.
  • You can lodge a complaint, we will try to resolve any concerns you may have.

However, if you consider that we are in breach of our obligations under data protection laws, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence or place of work. In the UK, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

  • By adding your email address to the Acceptor or Decliner survey you accept these terms and conditions, which are the rules of the competition.
