What is the cutting edge of animation? This July, staff and researchers from UCA will come together to present recent work that spans the disciplines of animation, games, photography, design, illustration and music. In Cycles and Sequences, at least twenty different artworks, many of which have not been previously exhibited, will be on display in the James Hockey Gallery along with a number of entirely new collaborations in expanded animation.
A feast of audiovisual stimulation awaits at the launch event on Thursday July 17th. In addition to the range of exhibits and installations, many of which are leading examples of animation today, there will also be related activities. This will include a panel discussion on animation as research with experts in the field, followed by light refreshments and expanded animation projection performances with live improvised sound.
Those who have an interest in character design might be tempted to stay overnight in Farnham and take the opportunity to attend the Concept Art and Character Design symposium on Friday 18th. Delegates of the Society for Animation Studies conference, Sustaining Animation, July 7-10 at LCC might choose to extend their stay and visit UCA.
The exhibition will appeal to scholars, students and practitioners of animation and the wider visual arts and music fields and open to the public July 14th- 25th.
