Clearing’s on the horizon, and we want to make sure that you feel as prepared as possible — and that you’re not worried about what’s ahead.
We know it can seem like a daunting experience but the more prepared you are, the easier you’ll find things. This is a time for you to think about your options, whether you’ve applied to university or not. We bring you our top tips below, and things you should consider for Clearing.
Remember: lots of excellent students receive a place through Clearing and there’s no reason to be embarrassed or concerned about it. Situations change, minds change, and that’s what Clearing is here for.
1. Find out if Clearing is for you -
Continue your research on what Clearing is (visiting this page is a great start)! Have a look at what options are available to you and who’s offering places. You don’t have to be in the UCAS system to apply either. We’re open to hearing from students from all backgrounds – just give us a call and we can have a chat about what you want to study.
2. Find out what the university is like -
Don’t wait until the last minute on Results Day – be proactive and think about your interests in advance, check which universities do the courses you want and get all the numbers you need ready to go. Check them out on social media – this is where you’ll really get insight into everyday life. Our social media is full of our students’ work, shots around campus! Also, really importantly, you can also find what current students think about studying here.
3. If you haven’t visited the university before and want to, find out if you can -
Our campuses are open all year round, you can book onto a campus tour at a time that suits you - you don’t have to wait until you get your results!
4. Get all the help you can -
Your form tutors in college will be around on Results Day, so will your friends and family. Don't hesitate to ask them for some help if you're trying to get everything ready – second opinions can be really handy.
5. Be an early bird –
As soon as you've decided which universities to speak to, get on the phone as soon as you can. It can be a very busy day, so it's best to get in there quick to make sure you can get onto the course you want.
6. Get your information together -
Have your results, qualifications, UCAS ID (if you’ve got one) and the courses you’re interested in, in front of you when you call to speak to our Clearing Team. It’ll make it much easier for them to help you if you’re not having to rummage through boxes to find them!
7. And finally -
Call us yourselves! We want to speak to you in person, not your mum, dad, friend or family member. This process may seem stressful, but it’s not. We are here to help you make the right choice for you and hopefully you’ll choose to study a course at UCA. We wish you the best of luck!
