Paul Usher

Bio

Paul is the former UK film development and production executive for Instinctive Film, who produced The Divide and Errors of the Human Body, and co-financed The Bang Bang Club and Save the Date. Paul’s career started at Talkback Thames Studios where he held a permanent role as the script coordinator (and occasional assistant director) for Fremantle’s continuing drama productions. He later became the lead screenplay agent for CMM at Ealing Studios where he secured script and development deals for writer clients in film and television.

Paul’s own writing is represented by the Blake Friedmann Literary Agency. He holds a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Oxford and is finalising his PhD thesis for the University of East Anglia which examines the future of film development processes - and their convergence with social media forms – exploring how independent producers will make their films visible in the crowded new mediascape. Paul has joined UCA to work with tomorrow’s filmmakers.
