Professor Jamie Dobson

Jamie considers himself to be an artist and designer. His process is experimental, he makes devices that respond visually to an input, often sound. He likes to use new technologies and also hack and rewire existing devices to do something new.

This process often fails - however, he feels that the journey is often more relevant than the outcome. Jamie documents his process using digital photographs, video and technical drawings. He makes books of his process, his work has featured in several London galleries - 'Up All Night' an exhibition at The Letherby Gallery at Central Saint Martins, The Mall Gallery and at Multiplex Studios in Shoreditch.

During his MA Jamie developed a series of projects which collectively he called 'experiments with light, sound and wavelength'. He produced eight projects in total, some of which later developed in collaboration with advertising agencies for commercial clients including Adobe, Philips and Sony.

Jamie has received much critical acclaim from these projects, his work has been published in the design and photography press, he has given lectures about his work in the United States and Europe.
