If you live in the UK, you should apply through the University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). You can apply online through the UCAS website. When applying for our courses, use our institution code - C93.
You can submit your UCAS application, from mid-September, the year before your course begins.
Once you apply UCAS will acknowledge your application and forward it to us. You can track the progress of your application through UCAS Track.
When we get your application we’ll send you an email with your login details for the applicant portal. This is where you’ll access all the information you’ll need through your applicant journey.
UCAS makes background information available to us when they send us your application – this is called contextual data. We will not use this information when making a decision about whether or not to offer you a place at UCA.
Portfolios and Applicant Days
If you’re based in the UK, we will then invite you to an in-person portfolio review at an Applicant Day, where you’ll have the chance to get to know your peers, view student work, and gain all the information you need and want about life at UCA. We’ll send you details on these events through the applicant portal.
If you would prefer not to attend an Applicant Day you will be able to submit your portfolio digitally.
Your portfolio review is an opportunity for you to show us your talents and potential. More information about creating your portfolio is available in our portfolio advice section. We’ll send you more details through the applicant portal after we've received your application.
Wherever you're coming from, UCA is ready to welcome you and we have a dedicated admissions team to help you with your application journey.
Before you apply, please visit our visas and immigration page for more information about applying to study in the UK and check our equivalent qualifications page to discover if we accept your non-UK qualifications.
Once you've applied we’ll send you an email with your login details for the applicant portal. This is where you'll access all the information you'll need through your applicant journey.
Portfolios
You may be asked to submit your a portfolio via our applicant portal. Your portfolio review is an opportunity for you to show us your talents and potential.
More information about creating your portfolio is available in our portfolio advice section. We’ll send you more details through the applicant portal after we've received your application.
Should I apply directly or through UCAS?
Most international applicants apply directly to UCA. The benefits of applying directly to us are:
- There is no application fee (up to £24 via UCAS).
- You are not impacted by the ‘equal consideration’ early deadline that UCAS set.
We do however encourage you to apply as soon as possible so you have enough time to organise your student visa (if you need one) and to apply for accommodation.
- There are no ‘declined by default’ deadlines.
- You can track your application through our online ‘Applicant Portal’.
If you are applying to more than one university in the UK, then you should apply to us through UCAS.
