Launched on 15 November to coincide with Farnham’s Christmas Light Switch-On, many local Farnham businesses and shops took part. The Mayor of Farnham judged the ten window displays and the winner was announced as BA (Hons) Fine Art student, Rebecca Meakin, for her “seamless” design of the window at Tavola Di Famiglia in The Borough, which was chosen for enhancing the facade of the building’s exterior. She won a shopping voucher for £50.
Commenting on the winning design, the Mayor of Farnham said: “This stood out because it enhanced the business, it fitted really well with the building and the shape of it’s windows, but it also added something else to its window display.”

Janie Elliott-Dunn, Farnham BID manager said: “Farnham’s unique selling point is its creative background and we want to showcase that through a collaborative and multichannel effort to promote the town.”
Dylan Metcalfe who designed the window of Hamilton’s tea shop on Downing Street took inspiration from the inclusivity of punk culture.
She explained: “I wanted to bring back the punk values of community and collectivism, and the fact that the window can be seen by the public tied in with this – my design could make someone smile.”

Alana Bailey and Georgia Cottam, both in the second year of BA (Hons) Illustration, designed seven of the window displays between them, including Loncherie on Downing Street, which the Mayor named as his second favourite design, and Cleverley Wrapped in Lion and Lamb Yard.
Alana commented: “The brief was broad, so I included lots of things from Farnham to make it personal to the town.”
“There wasn't a style they wanted, so you could do your own thing and put your own spin on it,” Georgia added.

The window displays will remain up during the month of December, so visit the town centre and join in the Christmas spirit.
