Organised by Professors of Architecture Charles Holland and Cat Rossi, the 2023-24 Spring Multistory lectures series theme looked at the thorny topic of MONEY. Speakers addressed issues including: the financing of architecture and design projects; the role of developers, clients, and unions; gentrification; the visual and material culture of money; economic histories of architecture and design. We seek to address these themes from a range of historical, theoretical, and practice-based perspectives.
Six recordings are available from the series:
Tuur Van Balen, How Did This Get There?, 1st February 2024
Tom Wilkinson, Unproductive Expenditure, 29th February 2024
Ben Campkin, Perverted Economies, 7th March 2024
Russell Curtis and Oliver Bulleid, Housing Crisis, 14th March 2024

Elise Hodson, Forks, Knives, and Steel, 18th April 2024
Multistory is the long-standing public programme organised by the School of Architecture and Design (CSAD), and which sits at the intersection of its research, knowledge exchange, and teaching activities. We seek to mobilise Multistory to position UCA at the centre of contemporary debates on architecture and design in the UK and internationally. Since 2022 the programme has been convened by Professors of Architecture Charles Holland and Cat Rossi.
