What do our students from Nigeria say?

One of our students, Oluwadoni, shared his experience studying at UCA:

When talking about what he loves about his course so far, he shares:

“I love that there is so much freedom... The lecturers are super helpful and the course help you to be able to go on that wonderful journey to be able to grow different aspects of your skill.”

When talking about why he chose UCA, he explains:

“It’s such a wonderful creative environment that can inspire you to grow in your creativity and be better in your field.”

He reflects on how moving to the UK has changed his perspective:

“Before I actually moved to the UK, I’ve never actually left Nigeria. So moving here and studying here has really just helped me to see the world in a bigger idea, and bigger mindset. And having different friends here from different parts of the world has just helped me to interact with different cultures.”

He also speaks about how much he has developed since coming to UCA:

“I have really developed in my skill. I’ve really developed in my problem-solving skills.”

When highlighting the support he has received, he said:

“Despite different situations or different circumstances, they’re always supportive, always wanting to help you get ahead with your project and just supporting you in any way that they can”.

Speaking about the community and opportunities beyond the classroom, he explained:

“UCA does give you so much freedom to be able to join so many societies and even start your own.”

“It’s just been amazing to see so many people come together, have an amazing time together, meet new people and just grow as a human.”

He also made full use of the facilities on campus:

“That’s how resourceful this uni is. They’ve got so much.”

When asked whether this was the right choice for him, he confidently said:

“Yes, I really think picking UCA was the best option for me. It’s an amazing university”

For students in Nigeria who may feel unsure about taking the leap, he says:

“Taking that step of moving here and being a student here may feel very uncertain or may feel like new territory, but it’s going to be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made in your life.”

“Take the step, connect with new people, don’t lose yourself and you’ll be fine.”
