EARTH: A Multistory salon

Organised by Professors of Architecture Cat Rossi and Charles Holland, the event brought together four fantastic international architecture and design researchers and professionals: Ben Bosence (Local Works), Bas Van Abel (Fairphone), Professor Annebella Pollen (University of Brighton) and Dr Karin Reisinger.

The salon focused on a widespread engagement with earth in practical and conceptual ways today, bringing together individuals who between them are making alternative relationships with materials, manufacture and construction, who are unlocking the impact of extractivist histories, or asking questions about the realities of what a different relationship with the land might look like.

Multistory is the long-standing public programme organised by the School of Architecture and Design (CSAD), and which sits at the intersection of its research, knowledge exchange, and teaching activities. We seek to mobilise Multistory to position UCA at the centre of contemporary debates on architecture and design in the UK and internationally. Since 2022 the programme has been convened by Professors of Architecture Charles Holland and Cat Rossi.
