Technical Tutor Digital Photography
John joined the photography technical services team at UCA Farnham in 2023. He has a long career in teaching and current commercial Industry experience. He also works on art projects and has exhibited widely in the UK.
Bio
John has been teaching digital photography for almost 20 years and has been working as a freelance photographer for more than 15. After completing an MA in Photography at the University of West London in 2012 he held several exhibitions of his personal work nationally in the UK. His work has also been featured in Jamie Fletcher's LGBTQ+ Dancing Bear Trilogy Presents the Alphabet Club Anthology Book.
He also studied Art Direction for Fashion at Central Saint Martins and now specialises in commercial digital photography for fashion, products and food working closely with fashion designers, importers and retailers throughout the whole digital workflow from studio lighting and capture, to the associated post processing and retouching. He has worked with clients as varied as Signare Tapestry Design, Pitman Training, Tootal Menswear and over 500 small start-up businesses. His commercial images have been featured in various publications (e.g. Cosmopolitan, Elle, BBC Good Food, Private Eye) and online shopping portals the likes of Amazon, NOTHS and Etsy.
John was part of the Beta testing team for Adobe Lightroom in 2004 and continues to work closely with Adobe, testing new developments for both Photoshop and Lightroom.
