Epsom is perhaps best known as the home of the world-famous Epsom Derby, held annually at Epsom Downs Racecourse. This iconic horse race brings visitors from around the globe and is an important part of the town's identity.

The town also has a thriving arts scene. Epsom Playhouse hosts a varied programme of theatre, comedy and music performances throughout the year, while local galleries and community arts organisations regularly showcase creative talent.

The area surrounding Epsom is home to some of the country's most famous historic attractions. For example, Hampton Court Palace — once home to King Henry VIII — is within easy reach and offers a fascinating insight into Britain's royal history.

Epsom is located very close to London, meaning you can easily access some of the UK's leading museums, galleries and cultural institutions while still enjoying the more relaxed atmosphere of a Surrey market town.

For everyday essentials, there's a wide range of supermarkets in the area including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Lidl and M&S Food. Many of these are located within walking distance of the town centre and student accommodation.

For even more shopping options, nearby Kingston upon Thames, Guildford and Croydon are easily accessible by public transport.

Epsom town centre is home to numerous cafés, restaurants, pubs and takeaways, making it easy to find somewhere to to suit a range of budgets and tastes. 

Alongside independent venues, you'll find familiar names such as Costa, Starbucks, Pizza Express, Wagamama and Bills.

Regular markets also bring local food vendors into the town centre, contributing to Epsom's lively community atmosphere.

There are plenty of opportunities to stay active in and around Epsom. Rainbow Leisure Centre is one of the town's main fitness facilities and includes a swimming pool, gym, fitness classes, sports halls and climbing facilities.

Students can also access a range of private gyms and fitness centres, including PureGym, Nuffield Health and Anytime Fitness. There are numerous sports clubs in the area, catering to activities such as football, rugby, tennis, cricket and athletics.

Epsom is surrounded by attractive green spaces and countryside, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Epsom Downs is perhaps the town's most famous open space, providing stunning views across Surrey and London as well as extensive walking and cycling routes.

Not too far from Epsom you'll also find wonderful parks and gardarns such as Painshill Park, Wisley Gardens, Horton Country Park, and Rosebery Park.

For a more exhilarating day out, Chessington World of Adventures is just a short journey from Epsom. The popular theme park and zoo offers a range of rides, attractions and animal experiences, making it a escape from your daily studies.

Kingston is one of the South East's premier shopping destinations and can be reached easily by bus or train. The town offers extensive retail options, riverside restaurants, entertainment venues, nightclubs and has its own vibrant student population.

Guildford

Guildford is one of Surrey's largest town and is a popular destination for shopping, nightlife and entertainment. Guildford is a university city, which also gives it a lively student atmosphere.

London

One of Epsom's greatest advantages is how close it is to London. Regular direct trains make it possible to reach central London in around 40 minutes.
