About the course

You'll start by learning how to use a 35mm film camera, covering the essentials of exposure, focusing and shooting black-and-white film. You'll then develop your own negatives before heading into UCA's specialist darkroom to create a contact sheet, select your strongest photographs and use an enlarger to make your own prints.

By the end of the four weeks, you'll have experienced the whole analogue photographic process from camera to finished photograph.

You don't need to own a film camera to take part. Suitable 35mm cameras can be provided by UCA for use during the course, making this a great opportunity to try analogue photography before investing in equipment of your own.

You'll leave with: your developed negatives, a contact sheet and a small collection of your own black-and-white photographic prints.
