Bio

The Uncertain Kingdom Development Fund called Ted a ‘genre junkie’ and his work has often been described as like ‘reading Ritalin’. He has taken both things to be compliments. Currently he is working on projects at various stages of development for both film and TV whilst also teaching at UCA. In 2023 he was invited to be a judge for the Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award as part of the International Emmy® Awards. He has also been a contributor to the Screencraft and Arc Studio Pro blogs.

His textbook on Screenwriting published by The BFI and Bloomsbury called Character is Structure: The Insider’s Guide to Screenwriting is available where all good books are sold, and his second academic book is currently navigating the peer-review process and will hopefully be published in 2025, again with Bloomsbury and the BFI.

Ted has an interest in creative approaches to learning and teaching and is especially enthusiastic in using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology in the classroom to develop inclusive and co-created learning environments.

He has presented papers at conferences in Ireland, Italy, America and London on screenwriting craft, form and industry intelligence. A particular area of his research interest is in using video essay and artefact responses to assessment strategies.

Ted has previously taught at UAL: London College of Communication,  Central Film School and Regent’s University, London.
