Ones to Watch and
Future Style-Makers Scholarships

These terms and conditions apply to the Ones to Watch and Future Style-Makers Scholarships available at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) for Autumn 2024 entry. The Scholarship Competition is open between 24 November 2023 and 1 March 2024.

Eligibility

  1. The Scholarship Competition is open to UK and international residents (excluding employees of UCA, their immediate families, and anyone else professionally connected with the Scholarship Competition) who have applied to study for one or more of the following courses: BA (Hons) Animation, BA (Hons) Fashion Design, BA (Hons) Film Production or BA (Hons) Make-Up & Hair Design to start in the Autumn term 2024. Entrants must have received either a conditional or unconditional offer to study with UCA to start from the Autumn term 2024.
  2. If you’ve applied for the Integrated Foundation Year and Professional Practice Year routes, the Scholarship prize will only be awarded for three years of study.
  3. To enter the Scholarship Competition, you must submit an entry before the deadline (1 March 2024). Entries must follow the brief provided for the relevant Scholarship Competition.
  4. Entries must submitted via email to: scholarships@uca.ac.uk
  5. The last date for entries is at 11:59pm on Friday 1 March 2024. This deadline will be strictly applied, and entries will not be accepted thereafter. It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that the submission is completed by that deadline.
  6. UCA accepts no responsibility for entries not received for whatever reason.
  7. Entries will be shortlisted, and winners announced, during March 2024.
  8. The top ten entries from applicants from the (BA Hons) Animation course will be judged alongside the top ten entries from the BA (Hons) Film Production course. The top three entries, as chosen by the judging panel, will be awarded prizes as follows:
    - First place: 50% Fee reduction for three years
    - Second place: 20% Fee reduction for three years
    - Third place: 10% Fee reduction for three years
  9. The top ten entries from applicants from the (BA Hons) Fashion Design course will be judged alongside the top ten entries from the BA (Hons) Make-up & Hair Design course. The top three entries, as chosen by the judging panel, will be awarded prizes as follows:
    - First place: 50% Fee reduction for three years
    - Second place: 20% Fee reduction for three years
    - Third place: 10% Fee reduction for three years
  10. Winners will be announced by Friday 29 March 2024.

The prize

  1. The prize is as specified in the Eligibility information. Each entrant is limited to winning one prize per competition.
  2. The prize is subject to availability and to winner confirmation, i.e. UCA has managed to contact the winner and confirm eligibility.
  3. No cash equivalent or alternative prize will be given at the request of the winner and the prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable. UCA reserves the right to change the prize or any part of the prize to an alternative of equal or greater value for any reason in its sole discretion including without limitation due to circumstances beyond its control or if any part of the prize becomes unavailable. If for any reason the winner chooses not to take up the prize or any part of the prize, UCA reserves the right to ask the winner to confirm this in writing and, whether or not such confirmation is received, UCA will be able to retain or dispose of the prize (or part of the prize) at its own discretion.

Winner contact

  1. The winner will be contacted as soon as practicable on or after the judging date (as appropriate) as indicated in the Eligibility information. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact a winner on the phone number provided when entering or such other method of contact deemed appropriate by UCA in its sole discretion in the circumstances. UCA will try to contact the winner over a 4-week period.
  2. Where the prize must be taken up by a date which is more than 1 month but less than 6 months after the close date of the competition, unless otherwise stated in the eligibility information UCA will try to contact the winner on the phone number (or other method of contact (if appropriate) they provided over a two-week period or as indicated in the interaction information.
  3. If the winner cannot be contacted or successful contact is not made within the time periods set out in clauses 14 to 15 above or as otherwise set out in the Eligibility information (as applicable) or if the winner fails to meet any of the eligibility requirements or is otherwise unable to comply with the interaction terms and conditions, this may result in forfeiture of the prize and UCA reserves the right to disqualify that entrant (without further liability to that entrant) and offer the prize to the next eligible entrant and thereafter until a winner is found.
  4. Any entrant and/or winner must comply with any directions given by UCA, prize provider(s) and/or their agents and with all relevant laws, rules and regulations, restrictions and itinerary. Failure to comply with instructions, itineraries, rules, restrictions, requirements, laws and guidelines may result in an invalid entry and/or forfeiture of the prize.
  5. UCA reserves the right not to accept an entry and all decisions on this, and on the subsequent selection of works for exhibition, will be final and not subject to appeal.
  6. The decisions made to shortlist and award winners will be at the discretion of UCA and no communications will be entered into. 

Privacy notice

  1. Entrant data will be stored in accordance with current data protection legislation.
