Creative Enterprise & Development

Creative Enterprise & Development

We aim to ensure that students are industry ready, entrepreneurial in their outlook and equipped to become freelancers or to start a business within their chosen sector.

The team is also the principal point of contact for external partners within the region and supports the University in the development of regional partnerships with local organisations such as Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPS), local authorities and business groups.

Creative Enterprise

Working closely with the academic staff, the Careers & Employability team and the Students' Union, Creative Enterprise delivers a programme of activities including workshops, webinars, virtual online resources and 1-2-1 mentoring which compliment personal development planning (PDP).

To develop the student entrepreneur we offer specialist subject specific workshops and lectures and a wide variety of events, support, advice and guidance. These include:

  •  Sky Blue Programme

  •  In course workshops

  •  'In conversation' events with alumni and experts

  •  1 - 2 - 1 advice

‘Use your time constructively – never waste it! Exchange and interact with the other students. Learn and absorb. These are your formative years. Reach for the stars!’ Zandra Rhodes, advice to UCA students, Times Higher interview

Our Creative Enterprise Coordinators are here to offer 1-2-1's. Through the Creative Enterprise database of Alumni mentors we will give honest and constructive feedback on early stage business ideas.

The Creative Enterprise and Partnership Development teams aim is to develop incubation services which support our own graduates' start-ups. These include:

  • Games Studio
  • Geek Boutique

The Creative Enterprise Team support alumni to develop skills for setting up a design business, starting an arts practice, a production company or going freelance. Alumni can access the following services for up to three years:

  • One-to-one start-up advice
  • Networking opportunities
  • Enterprise workshops
  • Special Events

As a UCA alumni you may have the opportunity to become part of the exclusive group of alumni speakers who support the next generation of UCA entrepreneurs.

UCA is a UKVI authorising body which means that UCA international students, who wish to establish a business in the UK, can apply to be sponsored on a Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) visa.

Places are limited and applicants need to demonstrate a genuine and credible business idea.  Applications are made in the last year of study.
