Sam Talbot is a musician, poet, writer, and visual artist. She lectures in Creative Writing in the School of Film and Media and in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) on the Graduate Diploma/International Foundation and Pre-sessional English for Art, Design and Media courses.

Sam's practice mostly encircles desire, empowerment, and personal relationships. Prior to joining UCA in 2013, Sam taught at Sheffield, Bath, Nottingham, NTU and UEA. She has a broad academic background which reflects her interest in multidisciplinary artists and interdisciplinary practice-based research. This has been complemented by working internationally in curation and galleries. She holds an MLitt in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow; a PGCTEAP from the University of Nottingham; an RSA CELTA from the University of Cambridge; and a BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting from the University of Southampton.
