We are pleased to announce that Tim Openshaw will take up post as Assistant Vice-Chancellor Strategy, Planning & Performance, in the new year.
A mathematician and chartered engineer, Mr Openshaw has spent 15 years in Higher Education and joins UCA from Birmingham City University, where he has held the position of Director of Planning & Performance for the past decade.
Beginning his career in the private sector, Mr Openshaw spent 14 years at British Aerospace where he worked in a variety of roles, including engineering, international marketing, HR and corporate change.
“Whilst I am analytical and firmly believe in the use of data as a strategic asset, I am also committed to building relationships, valuing people’s contribution and securing equity of opportunity,” says Mr Openshaw. “I am looking forward to joining the institution and enjoy being in the culture of a creative environment.
“I will be pleased to work with colleagues across the institution to ensure we maintain our position of excellence so that the University is attractive to both recruiting and retaining students, with an offer that meets their needs; and building on the reputation of the institution to enhance its profile and deliver our ambition.”
UCA has been a leading force in art and design education for the last 150 years and has campuses in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, and Rochester. In 2016, the University joined with the Open College of the Arts, significantly enhancing its provision of art and design education through online and distance learning. Its bespoke Business School for the Creative Industries – the first of its kind in the UK – builds on UCA’s long tradition of collaborating with employers to cultivate leadership, entrepreneurial and problem-solving skills.
Mr Openshaw will commence post on 9 January 2018.
