Five second-year BA (Hons) Graphic Design students from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) Epsom have their ‘limited edition’ designs for Nescafé Azera on sale in Tesco and Waitrose.
Nescafé Azera Limited Edition Designs has supported and championed graphic design students from UCA for the last five years, and “every year they have created truly unique and striking packaging,” said a Nescafé spokesperson in a comment on their website.
The brief for 2019 was ‘a cup of curiosity’. Where would their cup of Nescafé Azera take them? Would they set out on a real-world adventure or sit and daydream? Nescafé asked UCA’s design students to inspire the customer to take their own journey of curiosity.
Twelve, the brand agency who developed the ‘Nescafe Azera by Design’ campaign and briefed the students, also mentored them throughout the process. The campaign originated as a way for Twelve to bring to life their support of promising young creative talent.
The winning designs were chosen by public vote, and are on sale now.
"It was really gratifying working with Nescafé Azera and finalising my design. This has been a great boost to starting my career,” said Ethan Salmon, UCA Graphic Design student.
Sallyanne Theodosiou, senior lecturer in Graphic Design at UCA said: “Students learnt a lot about non-disclosure agreements and legal considerations in addition to meeting the brief, and to see their designs finally appear on supermarket shelves was extremely exciting.”
