Graphic Design students from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) Epsom, were invited to create bespoke designs for a range of Epsom & Ewell themed charity Christmas cards.
Once Upon a Town (OUT), a free bi-monthly magazine and website dedicated to celebrating local life in Epsom and Ewell, commissioned the students to create a pack of Christmas cards to help raise money for the Epsom & Ewell Foodbank charity – set up in 2012 to help local people in crisis. Each pack contains 6 different designs and all proceeds will be donated to the charity.

The UCA students sought to combine inspiration from the local area with the skills they've learnt on their course to come up with innovative and festive designs. Some students took inspiration from local places of interest, such as the Epsom Downs Racecourse, or the Epsom Clocktower, and others sought to showcase the resources of UCA, such as the letterpress studio.
"I wanted the design to combine an old style of printing with a contemporary twist using the letters to form a Christmas tree," said student Bill Hards.

Each design celebrates Epsom & Ewell and hopes to spread a little festive joy throughout the community.

Jess Ford, one of the other students involved told OUT: "Thinking of the Christmas spirit, it’s important to look at not just the giving and receiving, but the joy and kindness spread from person to person. Every year this is brought to the streets of Epsom, so what’s better than bringing this to life to spread kindness even further!"

Card packs are available to buy for a suggested donation of £3 and available to buy from UCA Epsom - Ashley Road, KT18 5BE.
