UCA Photography student’s work published in Vogue

Our second year BA (Hons) Photography student Jamain Gordon’s work made it into Vogue Italia this year, and was published in the iconic magazine’s ‘Photo of the Day’ section. Jamain took the photograph while working as a photographer’s assistant for The Times’ Ki Price during London Collections Men (LCM) at the Topman catwalk.

London Collections Men highlights the creative and commercial importance of British fashion brands and emerging talent, as well as the rich cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of this sector. The events are designed to showcase the breadth of British fashion talent – from the world’s most innovative emerging talents to global menswear brands and Savile Row tailors.

Jamain was backstage at the event and decided to take a few photographs of the models wearing intriguing outfits. When his assisting role at LCM came to an end, Jamain uploaded two of the images he captured to Vogue Italia, and was astonished to find that one of them was accepted into 'Photo of the Day' the next day.

Speaking of his time working at London Collections Men, Jamain says: “I got to meet Lewis Hamilton, Tinie Tempah and Paul Smith and even had the chance to take a portrait of them. I was also invited by the Alexandra McQueen team to come to Milan Fashion Week. I had a truly great experience working backstage at the Topman catwalk – I loved every bit of it!”

Jamain’s photo is currently displayed at our Farnham campus in room G32 to celebrate his success and showcase his creative talent.
