We're delighted to announce that UCA has made a formidable debut in The Guardian University Guide league table, entering straight into the UK's top 40 of universities.
With UCA ranked 39th overall, we have now established ourselves higher in the league table than institutions such as King’s College London, Sheffield and University of the Arts London (UAL). We have previously performed well in the individual subject tables, but this was the first time we have been included in the main Guardian table.
Our Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Ofield-Kerr said: “This latest league table demonstrates that UCA is one of the very best places in the UK to get a creative degree. It’s incredibly exciting to see all of the hard work and sheer talent of our staff and students recognised by this league table, along with others. This achievement is just a springboard for even greater things – UCA is the university to watch.”
We scored particularly strongly in the areas of tutor feedback, where we have been ranked in third place nationally, and in student spend, where we have achieved fifth place overall - just behind Oxford, Cambridge and Edinburgh.
We also performed well in the individual subject league tables with increases reported across the board, particularly in our Architecture course which is now ranked at 5th in the UK, ahead of such institutions as Edinburgh, Nottingham, Bath and the University of Kent.
Our Head of UCA’s Canterbury School of Architecture, Allan Atlee said: “This is a fantastic result for UCA and the School of Architecture, and is a satisfying validation of all the hard work we’ve done over the past few years. To be ranked alongside the likes of Cambridge and UCL in such an important and respected league table demonstrates that both our students and employers in the profession hold our architecture courses in the highest esteem.”
The results come at the end of a bumper year for UCA in which we not only saw a 17% year-on-year increase in applicants and strong league table standings, but we also received recognition from The Business of Fashion Global School Rankings as one of the top 20 places in the world to study fashion.
