Leading industry figures sign up to give masterclass lecture series at UCA

The first in a series of masterclass lectures given by high-profile fashion figures has been held today (24 January) at UCA Rochester.

Fashion journalist and celebrated fashion writer Hilary Alexander kicked off the masterclass series by speaking to Fashion Media & Promotion students about her broad and diverse industry experiences. The twice-crowned British Fashion Journalist of the Year, who has extensive broadcasting experience and is a regular contributor to various television shows, was on hand to share industry insights and invaluable knowledge with UCA students.

The masterclass series will take place over the next two months, with fashion journalist Tony Glenville, fashion/celebrity stylist Grace Woodward, Selfridge’s events manager and producer Louise Grant, and fashion researcher, TV presenter and writer Amber Butchart lined up to speak to UCA’s current fashion cohort.

Sheelagh Wright, Course Leader for BA (Hons) Fashion Media & Promotion, said: “We are thrilled to be holding this masterclass series for our students. To have such well-regarded industry figures and experts on hand to speak to students and to offer them invaluable insights into what it is like to work in the fashion industry is incredibly important.

“We are passionate about providing our students with opportunities that build on and enrich their learning experiences throughout their time at UCA. A masterclass series such as this gives our students the chance to directly interact with the industry that they ultimately want to work in.”

BA (Hons) Fashion Media & Promotion aims to give students professional and intellectual versatility and equip them with the knowledge to succeed in the multi-billion pound global fashion promotion and media industries. Throughout the course, students learn how to promote concepts through all forms of media, including fashion photography, fashion film, publications, digital marketing, public relations and social media.

The next lecture in the series will be given by fashion journalist Tony Glenville on Wednesday 31st March.
