UCA accelerates into the top 25 of all UK universities

We are delighted to announce that we have continued to make major gains in national league tables and today have been identified as one of the country’s leading universities, ranking 21st in the Guardian University Guide 2018.

Rising an impressive 18 places since last year, the latest ranking by the Guardian adds to the University’s exceptionally strong performances in major UK league tables over the past 12 months. It marks the second time this year that UCA has been recognised as the country’s top specialist university for the creative industries.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Alan Cooke, said: “We are incredibly proud that UCA has not only been identified as one of the top universities for a creative degree, but as one of the best places in the country to study the creative industries.

“To be ranked 21st of all UK universities is an incredible achievement, which is testament to the calibre of our staff and the excellent links they have to the creative industries and research in their fields.”

In September, UCA was identified as one of the country’s leading universities for teaching quality, ranking 14th in this area in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017. Just last month, the Complete University Guide 2018 identified UCA as the UK’s number one specialist university for the creative industries.

Professor Roni Brown, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Development, added: “It is extremely exciting to see our university continually recognised as providing education of the highest quality, acknowledging the outstanding talent and commitment of our staff and students. We are delighted to see our courses ranked so highly in the subject listings, and our Architecture, Fashion & Textiles, and Film Production & Photography courses named in the top 10 in the Guide’s subject listings.”

The second largest provider of creative arts education in Europe, UCA has campuses in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham and Rochester, as well as teaching bases at Maidstone Television Studios, the Royal School of Needlework and the Open College of the Arts – UCA’s provider of distance learning. Alumni include fashion designer Dame Zandra Rhodes, Hollywood director Gareth Edwards and Turner Prize nominee Tracey Emin.
