We are once again set to see our campuses transform with vibrant and creative exhibitions as the annual Graduation Shows commence in June.
Students studying everything from Fashion, Animation and Architecture, to Product Design, Music, Photography, and more, will showcase their work at public exhibitions across UCA’s four campuses in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham and Rochester.
Third-year BA (Hons) Journalism student Amber Chawner said: “After three years of working hard, honing your skills, and creating pieces you can be proud of, it’s so rewarding to be able to have your work displayed for people to see and appreciate. The shows give us a taste of what it will be like to actually have our work out there in the real world, and I think that is real high point for the end of our time at UCA.”
Previous years have seen the University welcome thousands of visitors to its campuses throughout the month to view the work on display, and this year’s shows are expected to offer an exciting mix of creativity and innovation. The 2018 Graduation Shows also coincide with UCA’s Open Day on Saturday 16 June, where course tutors will be on hand to meet and discuss the benefits of a creative education with visitors.
“There is a lot of buzz and excitement in the department at the moment as we prepare for both the grad show and for New Designers,” says Abigail Marsh, a third-year BA (Hons) Glass, Ceramics, Metalwork and Jewellery student. “All the work we are making now will be in the Foyer Gallery at the Farnham Campus for the show, and then when the grad show is over, those of us doing New Designers will be taking our pieces to London – so it’s a great opportunity for people to get a sneak preview!”
This year’s exhibitions will open on 7 June at Farnham, 8 June at Rochester, 14 June at Epsom and 16 June at Canterbury. For more information, click here.
