With results day approaching, a UCA Canterbury student, who secured his university place through Clearing, has urged other students not to stress out on results day.
Ben Carpenter, who is currently studying BA (Hons) Architecture, said: “When it came to getting my results, I was worried that I would be stuck on a bad course or with no options. I always wanted to study Architecture and my main concern was that I now wouldn’t be able to get a place on a good course. There was no need to stress out as much as I did and I wish I’d known that at the time.
“I found out about UCA through the UCAS website when comparing different courses – it was the highest-ranking BArch in Clearing and I knew I wanted to secure a place on it. When I contacted the Clearing team at UCA, they were straight-talking, helpful and supported me through the entire process.
“It was a big relief and I was so happy to accept my offer from UCA. So far, I’ve loved my time as a student. The whole place is friendly and welcoming and the fact that it’s a bit smaller means you’re dealt with like a person, not a number. It was a stressful time, but there are options out there. You just need to not stress out and make sure that you’re sure about all the choices you make.”
The initial phase of Clearing opens at the beginning of July and is there for students who haven't applied to university, haven't secured a place, or have changed their minds about where or what to study.
UCA is the highest ranked specialist university for the creative industries in the UK and a Guardian top 25 university. Alumni include fashion designer Dame Zandra Rhodes, Hollywood director Gareth Edwards and Turner Prize nominee Tracey Emin.
