Pre-degree tuition fees

This information only applies to UK and EU students. If you are an international student, you will need our international fees and finance pages.

Do I have to pay tuition fees?

If you are under 19 years old on 31 August before your course starts, you don’t have to pay any tuition fees. This doesn’t include the Access to Higher Education Diploma course.

If you are between 19 and 23 on 31 August immediately preceding the start of the course, and studying for your first full level 3 qualification, you don’t have to pay any tuition fees.

These fees are correct for the stated academic year only. Costs may increase each year during a student’s period of continued registration on course in line with inflation (subject to any maximum regulated tuition fee limit). Any adjustment for continuing students will be at or below the RPI-X forecast rate.

All fees are correct at the current time, but are subject to amendment as a result of changes in Government policy on tuition fees, entitlement to fee reductions and tax or benefit rules. You should check for the latest information before enrolment.

*No fees are charged to students studying a pre-degree course if you are aged between 19-23 on 31 August immediately preceding the start of the course, and studying for your first full level 3 qualification.

Other charges

If you’re a full-time student, you’ll need to pay extra costs of £130. If you’re a part-time student you’ll need to pay £100. This is to cover an annual materials charge and examination registration fees.

If you’re over 19 at the start of your course, these charges are included in your course fee.
