About Us

We are a team of digitisation experts whose aim is to improve your access to Library, teaching, research and special collections through the use of digital technologies. Our mission is to create high quality digital resources that are easily accessible to you.

Lisa Chadwick, Digital Services Manager

After a first degree in History, Lisa lived and worked in Tokyo where the journey into her photographic career began. After completing a Masters in Photojournalism at Cardiff School of Journalism, Media & Cultural Studies, she went on to work in the busy hub of the news room. Later overseeing the team that created the first ever digital archive for the National Trust Photo Library, Lisa then went on to work in the emerging dotcom field as Content and Picture Research Manager for Alamy Images. A period as an Art Director in the stock library field saw her producing and directing commercial photographic shoots worldwide. Most recently, during a stint living in Zurich, she collaborated with Bilderlounge Munich on creating a new visual identity for Kuoni.

Lisa Moore, Programme Manager (Digitisation and Copyright Compliance)

Lisa has worked at UCA for over five years specialising in visual resources. Prior to working at UCA, she was employed by the Surrey History Centre, digitising archives for preservation and archive reasons. While working at SHC, Lisa also received comprehensive training in the correct handling of archive material. Lisa comes from an arts background having attained a degree in Three Dimensional Design and a Masters in Contemporary Craft at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design. Lisa is currently studying by distance learning for a masters in Library & Information Studies from Aberystwyth University.

Lorna McColl, Digital Services Assistant

Lorna started working at UCA in 2014 after having completed a bachelor of the arts degree in Photojournalism at the University of the Arts, London. Lorna is an enthusiastic and friendly member of our team and can always find a solution to your digitisation dilemmas.

3) Digitised readings service for teaching staff

If you are an academic at UCA and would like an extract from a book or journal scanned and added to a module code on myUCA, you will need to contact the Digitisation Services department.

We will:

  • Scan the extract (a chapter/article or 10%, whichever is the greater).
  • Apply optical character recognition (OCR) to ensure the text is accessible for students with disabilities.
  • Report the scan to the CLA (a requirement of our HE licence).
  • Upload to myUCA within 2-3 working days.

To make a request please contact Digitisation Services. In your email please ensure you include:

  • Book/journal title.
  • Author.
  • Details of the extract (page range or chapter number).
  • Module code and area you would like the scanned reading to be posted to.

We will then respond to acknowledge receipt and confirm who is handling your request. Once complete, you will receive an email informing you that the reading has been posted on myUCA. The scanned reading will appear as a url link in myUCA - click on the link and the reading will be shown in full.
