For anyone who wants to improve their English before starting a creative arts degree in the UK, this two-week course will provide you with key vocabulary and skills to begin your degree course with confidence.
The course will help you broaden your range of art & design-related vocabulary and equip you with the language and skills you need to critically analyse a work of art and present your work to an audience.
Length of course:
First programme day:
Mon, 20 Jul, 2020
Last programme day:
Fri, 31 Jul, 2020
All classes will be taught in English
In the first part of the course, you will learn the descriptive vocabulary used to talk about a piece of art, such as a photograph, film or painting. You will learn a wide range of descriptive language so that you can talk in detail about the various components of an artwork, such as colour, shape, texture and pattern.
Following this, you will be given the opportunity to put your language into practice both in the classroom and on the weekly study trips. You will learn how to employ this language to critically analyse a piece of art and how to compare and contrast works of art, such as fashion collections, photographs or films.
Finally, you will further develop your skills by learning how to give a presentation in English, employing the language that you have learned during the course to give a presentation to your group.
At the end of the course you will take home your copy of the course handbook with all the language you have studied, and a video of your end-of-course presentation.
