Creative Summer School
Monday 15th - Friday 19th August 2022, 10am - 3pm daily. This free Summer School is open to young people aged 15-16 (Years 10-12) from Gravesham and Dartford, (please see below for full eligibility criteria). The deadline for applications is 23:59 on Sunday 31st July.
This Summer School is suitable for 15-16 year olds with an interest in creative subjects - you need to have a passion for Art and Design but you don't need any previous experience and you don't have to be studying a creative subject at school/college to take part. Our Clubs aim to be inclusive - creativity is for everyone! If you have any special requirements (learning needs, access needs, disability support, preferred pronouns, allergies etc) then please let us know on your application form and we will try our best to make sure your experience with us is comfortable and enjoyable. If you'd like to ask us anything about the Summer School in advance of applying, please email email@example.com.
Taking inspiration from your local area and surroundings, you will explore techniques in Art and Design and reconnect with the arts during this five day Summer School. At the creative locations of the LV21 lightship and St Andrew's Arts Centre in Gravesend, you will have the opportunity to try new creative disciplines, find out more about creative pathways, and add to your portfolio of work.
The Summer School will include:
- Creative workshops covering different creative disciplines
- The opportunity to meet practising artists and UCA Student Ambassadors
- Support in creating your own portfolio of creative work
- An off-site trip to a local exhibition
- The opportunity to display your work in a group exhibition
You'll also get the chance to work towards a Bronze Arts Award, a level 1 qualification that is great for your CV if you're interested in progressing in future creative study or careers. Not sure what Arts Award is? Find out on our Arts Award Student Page.
All creative materials and lunch will be provided free of charge, and support with travel is available.
The Summer School is free to attend and open to young people aged 15-16 (Years 10-12) living in Gravesham and Dartford.
This activity is provided by the Kent and Medway Collaborative Outreach Programme (KaMCOP). KaMCOP is part of the national Uni Connect programme, which aims to increase the number of young people from underrepresented groups and areas accessing higher education.
Priority places will be given to students who live in the Gravesham/Dartford areas of Coldharbour, Singlewell, Swanscombe and Westcourt. This will be determined using your home postcode. Any remaining places will be allocated in line with the below criteria.
