Senior Lecturer Architecture
Suzanne Gaballa joined UCA as a sessional tutor in 2015. She continues to act as an associate at Universal Design Studio in London in parallel to her teaching commitments. Here she works across hospitality, retail and residential projects from Europe to Australia.
Suzanne graduated with BA (Hons) Architecture from Liverpool University, where she received the John Rankin Design Prize. She then came to London for a summer school at the Architectural Association before heading to UCL for her Diploma in Architecture. Here she developed her thesis in metaphysical architecture. Sheppard Robson sponsored Suzanne's studies at UCL for her Part 2 and Part 3 Certificate in Professional Practice.
Professionally Suzanne has worked on a range of project scales and types. At Quinn Architects she worked on a new build high-end residential project on the hills of Bel-Air, Los Angeles. At Surface Architects as Associate she led the UEL Reception Pavilion from concept to completion as well as developing the MyPlace Community Centre in Hull.
Prior to this she worked extensively at Sheppard Robson in the commercial sector on Arup Fitzrovia Phase 2 and 3 and in the education sector on Oasis Academy, London; The Perse School, Cambridge; Sidney Stringer Academy, Coventry.
Suzanne also continues to work on private projects, including a medical practice near Sydney, Australia; two concept hair salons for Bleach, London; a private residential extension in Denmark; landscaping to a private villa in Egypt; and several residential refurbishments.
Suzanne continues to develop the link between the physical and metaphysical aspects of architecture across her professional work. Working in practice has allowed this to be developed alongside research agencies in semiotics as well as post-project analysis with the clients.
