Mark O'Connor

Mark leads our branding and communications courses at UCA Epsom. Before joining UCA he spent many years in the journalism industry working as a writer, stylist and fashion editor on national newspapers and magazines.

Mark O'Connor


Mark studied BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting at Northumbria University between 1990 -1994 and since joining UCA in September 2015, Mark has undertaken an arts education postgraduate course.

Before joining the UCA, Mark enjoyed a prosperous career background in journalism spending twelve years working his way up from fashion stylist to the fashion editor at The Daily Express, the Saturday Express and S2 Magazine.

Before this he trained as a stylist at FHM Magazine, where he became deputy fashion editor between 1998 and 2002.

Mark has also worked across many print titles including Wallpaper, The Guardian and The Scotland on Sunday as a freelance writer and stylist.

Research statement

Mark would like to pursue further research in high menswear fashion, as this is his main interest. He is keen to write a book on Menswear and to curate an exhibition on menswear in the 21st century.
