Bio

Lorraine Studied General art and design before embarking into the world of Clothing and Fashion. She completed her four-year degree in European Fashion, which included a year studying and working in East Berlin. During her study years she found her strengths were very technical and enjoyed the challenge of pattern cutting. She has worked in a variety of companies in London and locally as a pattern cutter full time and freelance (Working on evening wear, Bridal wear, Theatrical Costume, Separates and tailoring). Her first teaching post was on a City & Guilds course teaching fashion design and elements of design. This Role enabled her to achieve her PGCE in Higher Education.

Lorraine now works as a Technical Pattern Cutting Tutor in the Fashion Design department in UCA Rochester. Her role includes demonstrating pattern cutting and support to all years. In the first Semester 1st years are introduced to intensive pattern cutting exercises, before they can design and create a pattern themselves. In the same semester 2nd years are introduced to another intensive project, Tailoring, where Lorraine introduces drafting a menswear Jacket pattern.   Final year students are supported all year, via one to one and advanced demonstrations.

Lorraine has completed a PGCE in Higher Education at Greenwich University.

Due to Lorraine’s creative back ground she occasionally exhibits her mixed media art. This can range from large acrylic paintings inspired by nature, photography on canvases and recycled jewellery. All inspired by her travels, long walks and sailing near British coastlines.
