Fashion Summer School
Year 10 & 11 (2 days)
Free Fashion Summer School for Year 10 & 11 students
Fashion Summer School is perfect for anyone that wants to engage their inner fashion designer and eco up-cycler! These creative sessions over 2 days are run by Fashion and Textile designer Elizabeth Whibley who has her own clothing and accessories label. Her playful and bold style will guide you through 2 days of 4 2-hourly sessions split over a morning and afternoon of fashion and design where you will look at:
- Researching and planning a collection, exploring what you’re passionate about and experimenting with how you could translate that into wearable art.
- Decorative, customizing and up cycling techniques to make some fashion samples.
- Discussing and demonstrating how to market and launch a fashion brand with unique handmade items.
Skills you can expect to explore:
Researching, Collaging, Embroidery, Upcycling, Hand drawing, Photography, Poster and Zine making, Marketing and more. This course begins to highlight the core elements of a fashion degree, like the one Elizabeth Whibley achieved at UCA Rochester. You should expect to leave the short course feeling excited to develop your personal style more, be experimental with the way you dress and overall feel more confident having experienced a snippet of life as a fashion student and fashion designer in life beyond university.
Sessions on Wednesday 4 August and Thursday 5 August:
10.00 - 12.00 (Morning session)
13.00 - 15.00 (Afternoon session)
