Technician in TV, Radio and Multimedia
With a wealth of experience in broadcast and strong ties with the industry, Sophie supports students studying TV, Journalism and Media. She runs the TV studio, director’s gallery, two radio studios and a dubbing booth and helps students get to grips with cameras, studios, software and all practical aspects of creating media.
Bio
Before coming to UCA in 2015, Sophie worked at Radio 1’s Newsbeat programme as a studio manager, radio producer, web producer and more recently a video journalist and picture editor. Throughout the 14 years she was there she got to cover a wide variety of events – politics, showbiz bashes like the Brit Awards, live debates, festivals and technology shows. She also worked on the local TV news programme in Oxford as a cameraperson and gallery operator as well as being instrumental in setting up the hugely popular School Report scheme.
As a Technician she often supports students televising and broadcasting student union events.
