Animators can secure stimulating, varied and engaging careers, exercising both their creativity and technical skills to produce eye-catching, imaginative animated content across a huge range of media platforms.
Working on anything from commercials, films and TV, to online media and video games, animation professionals may specialise in traditional techniques of drawn, model and CGI animation, or may use the latest software for digital animation.
Student work ranges from quirky animated shorts to art-house visualisations, commercial commissions and moving personal stories. They create impact too: some of our alumni have become Oscar, BAFTA and British Animation Awards winners.
We provide inspiring tuition in a truly creative environment - our teaching team includes a number of leading industry professionals, award-winning experts and working animators, filmmakers and designers. "I was drawn to the BA (Hons) Animation course at UCA because of its breadth. It allowed students the creative freedom and facilities to explore and specialise. Being surrounded by people doing so many different things and producing such a varied body of work was truly inspiring and keeps your mind open to the endless possibilities of animation. This was coupled with knowledgeable tutors, inspiring guest lecturers and plenty of practical lessons and advice to inform both your creative and professional processes. I now work for a London-based design studio producing animations, interactive apps and installations for a variety of interesting clients including the British Library and the Science Museum. "
"Looking back at my time at UCA, from a creative perspective it was the best experience possible. The sheer scope of skills that we were learning was just unbelievable - visualising, 3D modelling, life drawing, storytelling, staging, presenting, and publishing. After graduation, I started an internship as a Product Designer at The Marketing Store Worldwide, and I was then offered a full time position. I've worked on promotional toys for McDonalds’ Happy Meal and Cereal Partners Worldwide, as well as licenses for Pokémon, Hello Kitty, and Transformers. Thanks to what I learned at UCA, I'm now able to make a living from my passion."
