Dominic Lees joined UCA in 2014 as Senior Lecturer in Film Production. From 2016, he became subject leader of the MA Filmmaking within the School of Film, Media and Performing Arts. His previous post was as Lecturer of Film at Kingston University.
Dominic graduated from the University of Sussex with a BA (Hons) in Politics. He won a British Council scholarship to study filmmaking in Warsaw, Poland, before completing a PG Dip in Film Production at the Northern Film School, Leeds Beckett University. Dominic is currently researching for his PhD at the University of Reading, a thesis entitled Creative Modes of Production in Independent Feature Film.
Dominic’s teaching draws on his practice experience as a feature film and television drama director. He has directed more than 35 episodes of broadcast drama, several short films and the multi-award-winning independent feature, Outlanders (2008). His films have been screened in film festivals at the highest level (Venice, Edinburgh, Chicago). At UCA, Dominic is unit leader of undergraduate studies in film directing and postgraduate units in film theory, screenwriting and film production.
