Dennis Maloney leads our BA (Hons) Fashion Journalism course. Before taking up this role, Dennis had been a senior lecturer and third year coordinator on the BA (Hons) Fashion Media & Promotion programme at UCA Rochester since 2007.

Dennis joined UCA as a sessional lecturer in 2007, subsequently contracted as a senior lecturer and then final year co-ordinator on the BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion Course based at the Rochester campus. In 2015, Dennis took the role of Course Leader on the BA (Hons) Fashion Journalism course, based in the Epsom campus.

A graduate of the University of Surrey, Dennis started his career as a freelance writer and journalist for fashion, travel and lifestyle titles, both within the UK and internationally, including The Telegraph, The Sunday Times, The Daily Express, Vogue E+T, Blueprint Magazine, GT Magazine, Tripadvisor and The Times Online.

He has also worked as a menswear stylist and in a number of senior editorial roles for both print and online media. In 2012, Dennis launched GEIST Magazine, a collaboration of industry specialists and undergraduate students within the School of Fashion at UCA.

  • Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2012). Currently preparing to apply for Senior Fellowship in 2017. 
  • Peer reviewer for academic and related texts published by Fairchild Books (Bloomsbury).

External examination:

  • In 2016, Dennis is due to commence his appointment as External Examiner for the Fashion Design and Communication Programme Group at Southampton Solent University.
