David Blackmore

Senior Lecturer Further Education, UCA Farnham

Academic, School of Further Education

The underlining concern of David Blackmore's work to date has been that of resistance - of protest against accepted authoritative structures and systems by exploring signs of their failure.

David is a European artist born in Dublin. He initially studied Photography at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art & Design and completed his BA in Photographic Arts at the University of Westminster. Over the past decade David has exhibited internationally including solo shows at Gallery Vassie (Amsterdam), Draíocht (Dublin), The Central European House of Photography (Bratislava), The Schwartz Gallery (London) and SITEATION (Dublin). During this period David’s practice has moved away from photography and now encompasses a wide range of mediums including performance, sculpture and installation. David was named as 'Best UK based artist' at the London Irish Art Fair (2015) and subsequently became a Fellow of the RSA. A recent Slade School of Fine Art graduate Blackmore is a Honorary Research Associate with the Slade School of Fine Art /UCL Art Museum, a Senior lecturer at the University for the Creative Arts and a visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster.
