Alan Cooke has contributed to UCA’s strategic development over many years. As well as transforming our campus spaces, his work has ensured that UCA remains financially resilient and able to invest in the student and staff experience.
Alan Cooke took up his role as Acting Vice-Chancellor for the University for the Creative Arts in January 2017 and is accountable for the strategic direction and management of the institution.
He joined the University in 1995 and was Director of Estate Services until 2007, when he was promoted to Pro Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Resources). In September 2014 he was appointed to the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Resources) (DVC CR).
Aside from his over-arching remit as Acting Vice-Chancellor, Alan has specific responsibility for the strategic management and leadership of the University’s Corporate Resources’ Departments, namely Finance, Estates & Facilities, Human Resources and IT Services. He also has oversight for health, safety and wellbeing as Chair of the University’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing Committee.
He leads on the preparation, implementation and delivery of a number of strategic plans, including the University's Financial Sustainability Plan, Capital Infrastructure Plan, Estate Strategy, and People Strategy.
An MBA qualified Chartered Surveyor, Alan worked with multi-disciplined international property consultants as a Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager and Property Consultant prior to joining UCA.
