Our Farnham-based technical team for Film, Media and Performing Arts has been shortlisted for a Papin Prize award at this year’s Higher Education Technicians Summit, held in Warwick.
The awards received around 200 nominations across a range of categories, with the UCA team named as finalists for the Technical Team award in recognition of the way they have worked together to deliver excellence.
Tim Savage, Academic Development Planning Manager at UCA, said: “We are incredibly pleased that our technical team has been recognised for the crucial work they do to enhance the student experience and to create an excellent learning environment.
“Our team at UCA Farnham exemplifies the values and actions of inspiring professionals at the leading edge of their disciplines. In addition to excellent spaces, support and technical instruction provided, nearly 90 percent of the team also have, or are studying for, a teaching qualification or equivalent, with the majority holding a post-graduate degree in their discipline as well. I firmly believe that our extraordinary technical team raises the bar for HE technicians in the UK.”
The Papin Prizes are a series of awards made to university technicians across the UK and Ireland in recognition of the invaluable role they play in HE. The awards are named after a 17th century technician who was one of the first to publish in his own name, Denis Papin.
Nominations for the awards are made by students, staff, collaborators and alumni from across the UK and Ireland. The winners are to be announced at a ceremony on Wednesday 31 May.
